Student Council
At St. Mary’s Secondary School, the Student Council plays a vital role in supporting our mission to empower young women to grow, learn, and flourish as confident, compassionate, and capable individuals who are ready to make a difference in the world.
Elected by the student body, the Student Council provides a strong student voice within the school. Its members work collaboratively to promote student engagement, represent student views, and foster a positive and inclusive school community.
Board of Management
The Board of Management is a corporate body established by our Patron, CEIST, under the Education Act 1998. The Board manages the school on behalf of the Patron, in partnership with the Principal, for the benefit of students and their parents/guardians, and with a commitment to providing an appropriate education for every student.
All correspondence with the Board of Management should be addressed to the Secretary to the Board, who is the Principal. To ensure inclusion on the agenda, any correspondence must be submitted at least three days in advance of a scheduled Board meeting.

Parental Partnership
At St. Mary’s Secondary School, we deeply value the partnership between home and school. Active collaboration with parents and guardians is central to student success. We encourage engagement through regular communication and participation in school events.
Below is an outline of key events throughout the school year, reflecting our commitment to strong and open relationships with parents and guardians.
Parent-Teacher Meetings
Held annually, these meetings offer parents and guardians the opportunity to meet subject teachers, discuss academic progress, and receive feedback on strengths and areas for development.
Parental Information Sessions
We host year group–specific sessions throughout the year. These sessions focus on key topics such as curriculum updates, wellbeing supports, subject choice, CAO preparation, and exam strategies.
Graduation Ceremonies
Our formal Graduation Ceremonies mark significant milestones in our students’ educational journey—at the end of the Junior Cycle, Transition Year, and Senior Cycle. These events celebrate achievements and are a cherished highlight of the school year.
Annual Open Evening
Our Open Evening invites prospective students and their families to visit the school, meet staff, explore our facilities, and experience the vibrant life of our school community.
Parents’ Council
Our dedicated Parents’ Council meets regularly during the academic year and plays an important role in supporting the life of the school. All parents/guardians are welcome to participate by virtue of their daughter’s enrolment at St. Mary’s.
